Linking the peaceful suburbs of Vermont, Onrus, and Sandbaai, this lesser-known section of the Hermanus Cliff Path offers a tranquil seaside escape. With fynbos-covered dunes, tidal pools, and abundant birdlife, it’s a quieter alternative to the busier town paths.

This section begins near the Jan Rabie tidal pool in Vermont, winding past coastal wetlands and rocky shores, ideal for nature lovers and casual walkers. The trail is generally flat and easily walkable, with scenic picnic spots and resting benches along the way. Look out for bird hides in the Hoek van die Berg area and tidal pools popular with families. You’ll pass through Onrus Lagoon and end near Sandbaai’s rocky coastline.

Great for walkers of all levels, the route offers a mix of coastal and nature reserve feel. While not as developed or marked as the town centre path, it still connects seamlessly into the greater Cliff Path experience.

This section is ideal for couples, retirees, birders, and families looking for a quiet walk off the beaten track.
